Dear Greenwood Families,
Thank you for helping Greenwood have a smooth start to the school year, especially with morning traffic and drop-off. Your cooperation has made a difference! We will continue offering early morning drop-off as long as it is being used, starting at 6:15 AM daily. However, now that the first month is behind us, we will no longer use the back entrance for morning car riders as it was rarely utilized. Rest assured, we’re constantly assessing what we can do to make traffic flow safe and efficient, especially during construction.
Speaking of construction, things are progressing well! Hemp flooring is being laid in three classrooms at a time on the second floor, and the majority of the work on the Health and Wellness facility, main school building, and Multimedia Center will be completed this school year. The finished project will be a great addition to our campus, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time of growth.
This year, our instructional focus is on feedback. To guide us, we are centering our efforts around four key questions:
Additionally, another key focus for us this year is attendance. Understanding how unexcused absences or tardy events can impact your student’s academic progress is important. While regular attendance is essential for success, we recognize that unforeseen circumstances may arise during the school year. Please maintain open communication with us so we can work together to address any challenges.
Below is an overview of the relevant Kentucky statutes that all districts are required to follow:
Finally, under House Bill 611, the school is legally required to refer the case to the Warren County Attorney's Office if your student accumulates 15 unexcused absences or events (including tardies, early check-outs, or late check-ins). This could result in court proceedings involving parents/guardians and the student.
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring your student’s consistent attendance, as it plays a vital role in their overall success. Thank you again for your continued support as we work to ensure a successful and productive school year.
Sincerely,
Adam Hatcher
