  1. GHS Boys’ Bowling beat out 24 other teams to win the BGHS Bakers Classic on Saturday. Aaron Nash bowled a 203 and 211, Nick Clark 205, Luke Simon 200, and Isaiah Willis a 247 and 278.
  2. Congratulations to our cheerleaders! KHSAA State 5th place All Girl Medium and Runner Up for Game Day Small! Way to go, ladies!!
  3. We are proud to share that Greenwood High School has received AP Honor Roll Recognition this year. This distinction is based on three key areas:
    1. College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school.
    2. College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam.
    3. College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams, with at least one of those exams taken in 9th or 10th grade, showing that students are spreading their AP experience across multiple years.
    4. This accomplishment speaks volumes about our school's culture and students. Go Gators!!!

  1. Basketball Coach Will McCoy received his 100th Career win! 
  2. Congratulations to Ethan Goodin and Richie Stewart on their qualification for the 2026 NAQT Individual Player National Championship Tournament to be held on Sunday, April 12 in Rosemont, Illinois.

  • The NJROTC team traveled to Russell County and placed 2nd in the Wild Wild West Rifle Championship, with Cadet Dillon Garrett placing 2nd overall.
    • The Cadets that weren’t involved with the Rifle Championship participated in the Veterans Day Parade. 
    • On Veterans Day, our Cadets traveled to our feeder elementary schools and performed Color Guard for their respective Veterans Day Ceremonies. Our Cadets also conducted our Veterans Day ceremony here at Greenwood High. 
  • On Thursday, 21 Cadets traveled to Knoxville, TN, and participated in the SEC drill competition, placing 3rd place overall in Unarmed Exhibition, and 2nd in the 16x100 relay. Great job to our Cadets who represented Greenwood High School for these events.
  • Congratulations to our Greenwood Band members who qualified for the 11/12 All District Band:

    • Franklin Estes-8th Chair Trombone 
    • Alexandria Williams- 10th chair Clarinet

  • Additionally, the following Band members were recommended for the final round audition for All-State:

    • Juliette Berry, winner of the University of Louisville 2025 Elizabeth Huang Piano Competition.
  • The Greenwood Marching Band finished their season with a 3rd place finish in their class at the MTSU Contest of Champions this weekend.
    • The band was first overall in the individual music and individual marching captions.  
  • Cross Country Girls, Region Champions
  • Cross Country Boys,  Region Runner-up
    • Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams for their successes at the Regional meet on October 25.
      • The girls placed 1st in the Region led by Allie Doran who was runner-up with a  time of 19:08,  followed by Charlotte Johnson who was 3rd, Blair Marr 5th, Lily Clark 8th, Claire Ellington 9th, and  Sauyer Shirley 10th.
      • Their average 5K time was 19:41.
      • The boys placed 2nd in the Region led by Justin Doran who won the race with a time of 15:52. Camden Goodrich was 6th and Miles Goodrich was 10th.
    • Girls Cross Country placed 6th in the state meet and Justin Doran placed 6th overall for the boys.

  • Congratulations to the Academic Team on winning the SCKAC League Tournament for the 2nd year in a row.
    • With the win, the Academic Team improved to a combined 24-0 on the season, having the best record in each of Freshman, JV, and Varsity.
    • Individual winners from yesterday's competition include: Sharanya Emani, Ashlyn Johnson, Oluchi Igbokwe, Laura Parkerson, Cameron Ford, Richie Stewart, Daniel Bomba, Claire Huang, Ethan Goodin, and Yejun Yun. 
    • Special congratulations to Academic Team members Ethan Goodin and Laura Parkerson on being named to the SCKAC Honor Team.

    • Addison Hales represented Greenwood on the KHSAA HYPE Student Athlete Leadership Committee in Lexington, Ky on September 29th and 30th.

  1. Laura Parkerson named a National Merit Semi-Finalist
  2. The Greenwood Band was AWESOME in the first contest of the year in Russellville, Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, and 1st Place in Class 5A, and OVERALL GRAND CHAMPION

  5. 2024 Awards for WKU Spring Writing Contest:
    1. Vivian Hilburn (now graduated) won the Teacher's Choice Category and then-freshman Claire Huang won the Prose Category.

    1. Addison Hales attended KHSAA Leadership Conference in Indianapolis.  She will be presenting at the KHSAA HYPE Leadership Conference in Lexington, Ky Sept. 29th and 30th.  
    2. Addison Hales Junior Team Tennis Team won the 2025 USTA 18U Intermediate State Championship.  She will advance to represent the state of Kentucky in Southern Competition against North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas on August 30th thru September 1st.  
    3. Julianne Ashby was a Finalist in the USTA 14U Ryan Holder Tennis Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky.
    4. Addison Hales finished 3rd in the USTA 16U Ryan Holder Tennis Tournament in Lexington, Kentucky
